What is my approach to therapy? That is probably one of the more difficult questions to answer, because it depends on my client. If someone comes in and can barely stand up due to grief, I cannot take a strong approach and have them do homework. I would listen, be with them, show them unconditional positive regard and emotionally support them with what they have just gone through. 

Conversely, if someone comes in and has been dumped again, has been experiencing low self esteem, has been taken for granted and are ready to work, this is when I practice Cognitive therapy, which will challenge them, refute their distorted thought processes and assign homework. 

Concusively, describing my approach is to understand that it is unique and individual, depending on my clients. But one thing is consistent, I listen, support and will always be in your corner from day one.
